NYE steak

Repurposed my NYE steak the other day into this beef steak donburi. Apart from the steak, the key to making this dish taste delicious is curing the egg yolk in mirin and soy sauce for at least 4-5 hours to get a rich, umami flavour. As usual, I’d suggest going with clarence court too! 😉 This is another simple recipe focusing on letting a few key components shine. I’d rate it higher but I could’ve done better with the steak. . . Ingredients: ✔️ 1 steak ✔️ 1 egg yolk ✔️ 3 tbsp soy sauce ✔️ 1.5 tbsp mirin ✔️ 1 cube butter ✔️ 3/4 cup of rice ✔️ 2 tbsp sesame oil ✔️ Sesame seeds ✔️ Spring onions . . Instructions: 1️⃣ Mix mirin and soy sauce in a jar and place in egg yolk to cure for 4-5 hours. 2️⃣ Cook rice and steak to your liking. Place in butter to finish. 3️⃣ Let the steak rest and slice. 4️⃣ Fill bowl with rice then top with steak and egg yolk. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped spring onions. . . ⭐️ Rating: 7.5/10
